About

Hi my name is Stephanie don…

I grew up on Tamborine Mountain, the rainforest of the Scenic Rim behind the Gold Coast, Queensland. I spent my childhood painting, drawing, making music and spending time with my family and friends. Mum said she used to donate all the cardboard boxes to preschool and I would glue them together and bring them home. I was always encouraged to explore my interests and went to weekly art classes. I loved art and would spend most of my time painting copies of the masters - Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse and Monet some of my biggest inspirations.

When I graduated high school I took a year off to travel the world and spent a year backpacking, working in Irish pubs in Barcelona, pealing potatoes hungover in Lagos, Portugal and calling family relatives in France. Travel has always inspired me.

I then studied a Bachelor of Creative Industries at QUT majoring in Interactive and Visual Design, minoring in Marketing. During this time I said YES to every project I could and ran events at a creative space called The Rabbit Hole as well as work part time in West End, Brisbane. When I graduated I worked at Dissh for 3 years before deciding to further study at Shillington College and obtain a Certificate 5 in Graphic Design.

I then landed a job at Lorna Jane, not my first preference as I wanted to work in an advertising agency, but I had a big trip booked and I could start here straight away. Here I learned a lot, how to work really, really fast, how to design books, how to photograph and style food and I made some relationships that will last this lifetime.

It was here I learnt about health, nutrition and wellness. After suffering from severe IBS since I was a teenager I had seen hundreds of specialists, doctors, dieticians and even a kinesiologist to help me. Through working on the Move, Nourish, Believe blog team and designing and reading articles all day about health I finally put some big pieces together and got myself on track.

The office environment wasn’t for me and I was ready to give working for myself a go. So after 2 years at LJ I jumped ship and started freelancing.

My work pulls together the inspiration of my childhood in nature and my passion for women’s health. I believe that Graphic Design has the power to create awareness, educate and change lives as well as build brands to succeed. I work one on one with clients and take pride in every detail. I adore books and large format documents, something about layout and all that typesetting puts me in a state of flow.

I love working with people who have passion for what they do, want to make a difference in others lives and bring joy to the world through food, art, design and life.

Last year I had a beautiful baby girl and when I’m not designing I’m in the garden playing with her and our crazy dog Disco. We live in a blue house and I’m slowing turning into the woman who just wears that one colour, but I don’t even mind.
